It's time to simplify my life. A little bit. So I'm gonna combine my blogs into one.
My theory is, however, that as I take time to move things around I'll actually decide it isn't worth the time and simply delete everything instead. Which I do not want to do.
Well, here I go!

Everybody Needs an Uncle Harvey
A couple of weeks ago I left the office around 5:30. I'm walking out to my truck...it's a beautiful day. Leaves were gently falling. And they were still the beautiful colors of fall that you enjoy: golds, reds, yellows, a little green...a little burgundy. And I was enjoying the sound and smell of autumn while checking my voicemail.
I hear a message from Aunt Chris: she has a pair of boots and wonders if George might be interested in them. I call her back and Uncle Harvey answers.
"Hi Uncle Harvey, it's Margie!" I say. We chat for a moment about the boots, and talk about when we can hook up next. He says Rick and Kevin are supposed to be out here this weekend so they won't be at church. So maybe we can hook up next weekend....
But after the call ends, it occurs to me: everyone should have an Uncle Harvey.
I mean, Uncle Harvey and I aren't close. We don't have that kind of relationship. I don't have that kind of relationship with any of my aunts or uncles....(except Aunt Polly). But I know--sure as I could place a bet--that my Uncle Harvey loves me and he knows I love him too.
We can go without seeing each other for a year and it doesn't matter. The love is still there when I see him. In a hug. In a glance. In the shy, not-so-certain way he has of looking away when you're talking with each other.
It's there.
And I'm thankful for it.
And I think everyone needs an Uncle Harvey.

The Stepfather 2009
I saw a trailer for a movie. This is the second time I've seen it.
And I'm intrigued!
This movie is a thriller. About-no surprise-a stepfather. An evil one.
And I think I have to see this movie....
Even though the preview was too scary for me to watch when Kent was at work. Instead, I fast-forwarded through it. I don't know when the movie is going to be released, I'll have to search about that on the Internet.
I'll let you know if I decide to see it..... eeek!

Family
There's nothing like it. The pure joy of sitting with your family listening to stories of old, told by those who lived through it.
We just returned from a trip south. Though our time with the family was short, it was wonderful and I'll treasure it always.
More to come later....

Lousy Day
It's been a lousy day work-wise. But I'm still thankful to have a job.
And, really, don't we survive on stress?

Face Book and My Husband
Kent keeps trying to find his brother on FB. I keep explaining that there are 500 Kurt Kings out there, and that if his brother is telling him that he doesn't know his own e-mail address it's because he's lying.
Because we all know that people my age don't know how to adjust their account settings to hide certain things from certain people.
Though why Kurt would want to do this is beyond me.
Last time we saw him, he proudly passed around the pictures of himself in a beauty pageant.
His stage name is Katrina.
He wears a beautiful wig and his legs are 10X better than mine have ever been.

God's Laughing Again....
Hey, you'll appreciate this one: I forgot that yesterday was the first day of school. We were trying to decide whether or not we could stay in Bville and get up early so that Kent could drop me at work when George says "yeah, and I've got school." EEEK!!
I had hours of paperwork to do/read and still more supplies to buy at WalMart.
Then I was sick (vomiting) all night. Managed to fall asleep around 5:15 a.m. or so.
Missed the bus.
Had to walk into the school in justoutofbed clothes/hair.
Then no hot water for a shower. So I came to work with washedyesterdayhair.
Got out the file folders from my bag and put them on my desk. Didn't get around to working on them over the weekend. Went to get a pepsi. Came back and there's this extra long panty-liner sticking out the bottom of one of the folders. In plain sight of the VP, Associate VP, and Director who were milling around my cubby that morning.
Such a nice way to start the school year.
Now I'm off to see George get off the bus. Hopefully. Last time he rode the bus home from school they lost him.....
Never a dull moment!!

Farm-Ville
Here I am. Forty-one years old.
With two children: one of them grown, graduated college, and married.
With a husband of ...16 years.
And here I am.
Enjoying a virtual farm on something they call FaceBook.
And enjoying it completely!
How funny!
You sign up for free and get this parcel of land. You get a small amount of start up coins and from there begin to build and plant and harvest your farm. It's addicting! As you move up in levels you get access to a different variety of seeds/trees/decorations/animals.
You also get to have neighbors. So I signed Kent and George up. And George is as addicted as I am! (Though he got involved in a ski game last night and all his strawberries withered away. So I snuck into his farm this morning and replanted them. Hopefully, he will never know.)
Anyway, this morning Kent finds a black sheep. I tell him to rush over to my FB page to adopt the animal...and I'm so psyched!
But once the adoption is complete, I realize that it wasn't my FB page---it was George's! The RAT has my black sheep!!!
It's totally addicting.
How funny!
Well, George and I are headed out to Belleville for a day or so. Birthday party for John Marshall at 1, then a final performance of Caleb's marching band at 7--though Caleb is only an instructor not a player. We may not go.
Tomorrow is the church's first Sunday School picnic. It's supposed to be cold.
I need to buy George a sweatshirt!

Football
Who'd have thunk it? Me. Trying to learn football.
On purpose?
Hard to believe!
But there I was tonight, at George's first real football practice. With my tablet in my lap and my pen poised to take notes. And I was proud of myself for following along. Until my girlfriend came by and we started chatting. Then I lost all track of everything.
But I was so proud of George.
Cause I don't think he knows any more than I do about the sport.
But he survived 4 days of conditioning last week without a single complaint.
And he survived his practice today.
And while he was the first boy to ask for a drink, he didn't squelch when the coach said no. But I made the coach mad when 30 minutes later I said something about a water break.
Ooo. I gotta go. Kent's up and I'm dying to know what George has to say about practice!
